Bhubaneswar,Dec 02 (Odisha.in) Breaking a silence for long  in the wake of Nandigram  violence in West Bengal, four left Parties in Orissa - CPI, CPI-M, Forward Block and CPI ML Sunday jointly declared to extend their solidarity with the anti-Displacement agitation and anti-Posco movement in Kujanga Tahasil area of Jagatsinghpur district.

"We will not allow POSCO steel plant and the Captive Port in the thickly populated Nuagaon, Gada Kujanga area at the cost of the people", declared the leaders of four left parties with the warning of serious consequences against forceful eviction.

"We are with the people and organizations fighting the displacement for the proposed twin POSCO Project", said Dibakar Nayak, State Secretary, CPI, Khitish Biswal, General Secretary , CPI ML, Subhas Singh of CPIM and Santosh Mistra of Forward Block at joint press meet held at Bhawabati Bhawan, the state CPI  headquarter.

Asserting that the people fighting against the displacement were genuine land owners and not encroachers in the Kujanga area, Nayak said that the area in question had been vested against the then inhabitants of the villages’ way since British era.

The Record of Rights had been accorded in their name by the erstwhile Raja of Burdhawan, who had possessed the land under the "Sun Set law" and the land records are still with them, he said.

CPIML leader Biswal said that both the civil and police administration had let loose a reign of terror in the Kujanga Tahasil area violating the human rights and added

People fighting for their land were now languishing for food and essential commodities and health care as the pro-POSCO people in league with the local police had.

Demanding immediate withdrawal of police force from the Kujanga  Tehasil area, the leaders warned the government of serious consequence, if any attempt is made for forceful displacement to accommodate POSCO.

They called upon the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to convene an all party meeting.

But what amazes me is that in spite of all its initiatives, certain groups and people still continue to blame the Company. TSRDS Joda Unit has given the tribal villagers of Bichakundi several other earning opportunities.
