Bid to attack on Dr. B.D. Sharma condemned

Bhubaneswar,Dec.07,(Odisha.in): Prafulla Samantara , President , Orissa unit of Lok Shakti Avijan,has condemned the attempt to attack on Dr. B.D. Sharma, President, Bharat Jana Andolan inside Lohia Akademi on Thursday at about 1 p.m.

Narrating the incident, Samantara told Odisha.in that , he and Dr. Sharma were  chit chatting with Rajaram Satpathy and K. Ravi two senior scribes representing the Times of India and the Statesman, inside Lohia Akademi.

As soon as Satpathy and Ravi left a dozen of youths looking like anti-socials barged inside the gate of Akademi . They were wielding neatly printed posters saying " We want POSCO ", " Nandigram Criminals Go Back ", " Posco for
Development and Employment ", " Sharma Disgrace to IAS " etc.

They were shouting slogans, " We want POSCO ". When they tried to enter into the room where Dr. Sharma was sitting, Samantara blocked the road and asked them , who they were ? One of them replied, " we are from Paradeep", said Samantara.

" Though their target was Dr. B.D. Sharma, they did not know who he was, nor they had any knowledge about me , " after shouting for some time, they left in two vehicles which were parked near the gate."

But their main aim was to terrorize Dr. Sharma so that he would not venture into enter the proposed POSCO area to give moral boost to the anti-POSCO activists, who are fighting for their survival by not sacrificing the land, water and betel fields", added Samantara.

Referring the alleged attempt to attack on Dr. Sharma, Samantara said, " this was nothing but the sadist design of the POSCO authorities  who want  to terrorize anti-POSCO activists by hiring hoodlums.

The persons who had come to Lohia Akademi should show enough courage to  give their identity in public as to which village they belong and how much they had paid for the vehicles they had hired  to come all the way to Bhubaneswar."
