Balasore police busts inter-state dacoity gang

Balasore, March 11 (odisha.in) With the arrest of four dacoits, including three from West Bengal and other two local house owners who had given them shelter, Balasore police claimed to have busted an inter-state dacoity gang, on Tuesday.

Police also have arrested a person for purchasing stolen valuables from them and seized six mobiles, five silver coins and weapons used in the crimes.

The arrestees – Raizuddin Mallik (24) of Dantun, Sk Amzad Khan (24), Sayeed Alli (25) of Belda and Sanjay Das (25) of Basta, house owners – Sk Akhtar Alli (63) and Sk Imtiaz (65) and a mobile purchaser Anwar Alli (39) of Basta area have been produced in the court.

Speaking at a press conference SP (Balasore) Yashwant Kumar Jethwa said, there were at least six dacoity cases lodged in four police stations in the district recently.

"A team formed to nab the dacoits has arrested four of a ten-member gang and efforts are on to nab others. They all confessed to their crimes and admitted that they were operating in boarding areas of Orissa and WB," he added.
