Berhampur, Nov 16 (Odisha.in) Driven by frustration over the ‘inordinate delay’ in getting justice, a sexagenarian man in Odisha Wednesday smashed the glass pane of a judge’s car, police said.

The 62-year-old man was arrested immediately before he could cause more damage to the vehicle of the district judge at Berhampur town in the district of Ganjam.

Dukhishyam Patra, who runs a grocery business, entered the court premises of the district judge M.K. Panda carrying with a hammer.

He hit the front glass pane of the official car of the honorable judge before any body could think what he was doing.

The glass damaged badly when he hit the hammer on it” inspector in charge of the local police station Deepak Mishra told Odisha.in.

Before he could smash other objects, the court staff nabbed him and handed him over to police," he said.

Patra, a resident of Buguda in the same district, was arrested and chargesheeted in 2008 for threatening to kill some of his relatives over a family dispute. Subsequently, he came out on bail.

He told police he damaged the car of the judge to protest frequent postponements of his case and delay in getting justice.“He was arrested and remanded in judicial custody” Mishra said.
