Govt deputes high level police team to Kandhamal |

Bhubaneswar, Jan 9 (Odisha.in) The state government Wednesday deputed a high level police team led by additional director general of police Prakash Mishra to the riots hit Kandhamal to study the situation.
The three members team will visit the affected areas, review the situation with the local administration and submit a report to the state government, a senior official of the chief minister office told Odisha.in.
The district of Kandhamal has been witnessing clashes between scheduled caste Pana mostly Christians and scheduled tribe Kandha mostly Hindus since Christmas Eve.
At least three people have died, dozens injured and hundreds of houses have been burnt in the worst ever riots.
The state government has deployed paramilitary forces and clamped night curfew in the region as the tension continues.
The state government has also appointed a retired Orissa High court judge to probe into the incidents.
Union home minister Shivraj Patil, chief minister Naveen Patnaik, members of national Human right commission and members of national minority commission are some of the important people who visited the affected areas over past weeks.
